It is extremely basic and did leave more to be desired. Probably the most bare bones places I’ve stayed in. One small, thinblanket on the couch in the dead of winter, no soap in the shower, no extra pillows beyond the two in the beds,, towels, 4 rolls of TP, one roll paper towels(we didn’t need extras but just noticed how different it was from most others). The kitchen was probably the most bare bones. Other reviews said there was salt and pepper but we only had salt. Maybe one of the other groups snagged the salt! ;) no nonstick spray or olive oil to use in the old pans, no baggies, foil, or Saran Wrap. It was interesting how to figure out how to store leftover food. Glasses are kid size and cookware is old and had to be cleaned before use. The downstairs bed is also extremely soft. My back was aching every morning. TV only has cable. No streaming (which wasn’t advertised but just noted). Overall the place is clean, fireplace is nice, view out the back is nice, but be prepared to bring every single thing you might need. I’d probably stay here again and just be prepared to have to bring what we need.

Nice Stay, Bring Your Necessities

2. The king size bed is in the loft area, open to the rest of the house. This is also where the only shower is located. We weren't expecting that but we made it work.
3. Very limited delivery options. Unfortunately we had car trouble on our last night when we were planning on going out for dinner. Roadside assistance couldn't find anyone to come out and help us without it being way overpriced ($300-$450 for a battery jump). We decided to order food instead. No Doordash, Uber Eats, Postmates available. The only place we could get to deliver food was Jiffy's Pizza, which was ok but not the greatest.
Overall it was a comfortable stay and would recommend the property just come well prepared.

Comfortable Rental with Minimal Amenities

We've never stayed anywhere that didnt even have butter in the fridge or sugar in the cabinet. You really do have to bring everyyyyything you want for a comfortable stay. Additionally, there was a lot of cat hair in the rental (?) which is odd since the listing states no pets.
We were comfortable overall, but I think I'd find something with more creature comforts the next time.
Overall, we really enjoyed our time at Mountain High. Wonderful stay

We had a problem with an appliance, and the property management was quick and thorough in their response, with great communication.

It was very clean, the kitchen was nice, and we appreciated having everything we needed to cook our meals. It was in a great location, making it easy to get to where we wanted to go. I will say that this place is not ideal for people who like to hang out and relax reading a book. We came back to the place exhausted after a day of skiing and just wanted to curl up with a book and relax. However, the couches were hard, small and the cushions (which were made of plastic) kept sliding out from under us. We used the table chairs to sit in later, and that was not great either. If you are only there to sleep and take a shower, but need a kitchen to prepare food, then this is a great place. I gave the place 3 stars, because I feel the lack of comfortable furniture took away from our experience.

Good condo, but super-soft beds

The beds, however, were both very uncomfortable. Extremely soft mattresses. My back ached every night and I tossed and turned all night long.

Just as important is comfortable beds, and they were very comfortable. Next is location--Carnelian Bay has been the location in Tahoe that has worked best for me in relation to things I want to do in Tahoe. The condo itself was far enough off the main road so it was quiet and peaceful. The pictures of the condo make it look much bigger than it actually is, but for two of us it was perfect and we didn't spend much time there anyway.

A bit too toasty

This is a lovely unit that has been updated, and has a nice layout. The loft has a king bed with adequate space around it and storage. However, on hot days, it is stifling hot and the room badly needs a standing fan. We regret not asking for one. Therefore, some of us slept downstairs in the cooler queen room. The knives need upgrading, and there could be 1-2 more bigger/serving bowls. I was disappointed there weren't a few more staples left behind like nonstick spray, sandwich bags etc., only salt, pepper and coffee filters. We loved the combo lock - made it easier for all of us to not juggle a key. The location is great, plus it's near our friends who rent a house nearby.

When it comes to Vacation Properties, the variance is obviously incredibly wide, and always relative to price. But out of my 20+ years of vacationing, my stay here was definitely just about the best I could ever do at 150 or under per night. I happened to bump into those who work at the Condominium Complex (individual units are owned by different organizations or even permanent individual residents) and those who worked at Carnelian Woods were very polite, professional, and definitely the type of people who were aimed at providing a clean and quiet stay while also being more environmentally conscious. Basically, if you want a stay that feels as much as home in a condo, this appears to be a good place. But I only stayed a week during low traffic. So my experience is limited. But, I will definitely consider staying here again.

Also about a 20 minute drive away from Northstar resort. Living space was clean, spacious, and with a modern kitchen. We enjoyed our weekend very much. Only inconvenient thing was we had to go to their office to pick up a parking pass and amenity keys. It would have been better if those things were already in the house. The parking passes at least.

I would most certainly recommend this property to anyone, to include friends and family.
While we were there, we went to the North Shore Beaches, stopped at all the Visual Lookout points for different vantages, we went to a small Gym in North Tahoe every morning, we rented (student and Military discount) from Tahoe Dave's whom were extremely helpful. We went to Northstar, the locally recommended ski slopes for the "Best Kept Secret". We then made our way around to Zephyr Cove and took a cruise on MS Dixie II into the Emerald Bay. From there, we went around to Vikingsholm and hiked down to check it out.

Something needs to be done about the keyless door code, though. We got locked out twice, once because the code simply did not work for no reason (and, yes, admittedly, once because we lost the code--DON'T leave home without it!). This issue in no way detracted from an otherwise perfect stay.

The kitchen was well equipped and there were plenty of games for the kids and for family fun time. The lake and all the restaurants were only a few minutes away by car or walking. We did enjoy our vacation in that house and would recoomend it to travelers.
Perfect living space for two!

Also about a 20 minute drive away from Northstar resort. Living space was clean, spacious, and with a modern kitchen. We enjoyed our weekend very much. Only inconvenient thing was we had to go to their office to pick up a parking pass and amenity keys. It would have been better if those things were already in the house. The parking passes at least.

I would most certainly recommend this property to anyone, to include friends and family.
While we were there, we went to the North Shore Beaches, stopped at all the Visual Lookout points for different vantages, we went to a small Gym in North Tahoe every morning, we rented (student and Military discount) from Tahoe Dave's whom were extremely helpful. We went to Northstar, the locally recommended ski slopes for the "Best Kept Secret". We then made our way around to Zephyr Cove and took a cruise on MS Dixie II into the Emerald Bay. From there, we went around to Vikingsholm and hiked down to check it out.

Best Pies - Truckee, Jakes on the Lake - Tahoe City, Christy Hill - Tahoe City, Austins - Incline City, Te's Rotisserie

Reviewed on 2015-12-30 by , United StatesWas so very pleased with the cleanliness and the sweet touches like having the amenities (soaps, hand towels, etc.)displayed with care. Something needs to be done about the keyless door code, though. We got locked out twice, once because the code simply did not work for no reason (and, yes, admittedly, once because we lost the code--DON'T leave home without it!). This issue in no way detracted from an otherwise perfect stay.
