Quiet Retreat
Reviewed on 2024-05-21 by , Chico, CA United StatesWe chose Tahoe off season to beat the crowds, this place did it for us. If you are looking for entertainment and shopping this is NOT the place for you because there is none of this in Carnelian Bay, so that was a little disappointing. The place was clean but it does need a few boxes of tissues sitting around.

Quiet area of Carnelian Bay
Reviewed on 2023-08-17 by Dale B. , Burbank, CA United StatesMy condo rental was a good experience. First Accommodations was very responsive on my E-mails. First night I was awakened by a bear going through the areas trash bin and in the morning after a long 10 hour drive the day before to get to Lake Tahoe I was also awakened by the next unit having their carpet cleaned at 8:00AM in the morning so other than that the condo was in a very quiet area of the complex. It was very easy to get to Tahoe City or Kings Beach. Condo had all the items needed in the kitchen for cooking and the bed was comfortable. The condo was a bit dated with the furniture, appliances and design.

Lovely spot in North Lake Tahoe
Reviewed on 2023-06-23 by Teddi D. , Meadow Vista, CA United StatesThe unit was well-furnished, with everything we could want from a VRBO rental. The kitchen had all the utensils, dining ware, and appliances we needed, an electric stove, a full-sized fridge with ice cubes already made. There's a TV in each bedroom and in the living room. They are small TVs, and the one in the living room is in an awkward upper corner, but you don't go to Tahoe to sit and watch TV all day, do you?
The hosts were very responsive and answered questions quickly via email. They even provided tips about dealing with local wildlife (bears!).
This would be a great choice for anyone looking to get away to a quiet spot by the lake.
We spent two nights for our anniversary getaway in June 2023 at this cute little condo unit. The location is perfect -- within three minutes drive of the lake and restaurants. The Carnelian Woods campus also has a lodge, hot tubs, pool, tennis courts, hiking trails, and other great amenities, but we didn't use them.

The unit was well-furnished, with everything we could want from a VRBO rental. Quiet and Quaint
Reviewed on 2023-06-14 by , Chaska, MN United StatesA friend and I traveled to Tahoe to "unplug" and regroup. The location was beautiful - set up in the woods and very quiet, close to grocery stores, restaurants, shops, and rentals for canoes/kayaks. Our biggest complaint was that the site stated the pool/hot tub was open from Memorial weekend through Labor Day weekend. When we arrived (the week after Memorial), we were informed that the pool and hot tub would not be open for another month. I wish someone or the site would have notified us of the delayed opening.

A lovely place to spend a vacation
Reviewed on 2022-02-20 by Gerald K. , Kenmore, NY United StatesHowever there are two major problems. First, there are 'critters' (probably racoons) living in the walls, and one can hear them rummaging around and scratching-especially in the 1st fl bedroom. The noise was loud enough to wake us up, even in the 2nd fl bedroom! Second, although there are 3 TVs w/cable, try as I might, I simply could not get the cable to work in the living room, nor the 1st floor bedroom. Moreover, I also could not get either remote to allow me to switch inputs to the Roku device I brought. An "instruction" or trouble-shooting guide would be most helpful. Not being able to watch the Olympics was super disappointing.

August retreat from Wisconsin
Reviewed on 2021-08-18 by Rustie L. , Deforest, WI United StatesLoved the location, loved the property and adored the home. Was perfect for our family of 4. Had everything we needed for preparing meals and storing leftovers. The pullout in the new couch would be handy but we never needed it. The cozy loft above the master was a nice surprise. The weather was warm the week we stayed, so AC would have been a nice option but wasn't absolutely necessary. I bought a fan to use and left it for future renters. The forest fire smoke/haze did block the view of the lake but we expected that. Hopefully they are contained soon. We'd love to see Tahoe in the winter so we may be back. Thanks to the owners for renting!

With that said, we found the leather furniture in the living room to be very uncomfortable. The wood and leather sofa is not conducive to curling up and watching movies. The leather club chairs were not much better. For that reason alone, I could not stay there again. Please, pair down the bulky side tables and get a longer fabric sofa.

Late Summer Weekend
Reviewed on 2020-10-17 by , Coronado, CA United StatesIt was lovely but the heater in the upstairs bedroom/loft is very noisy when it is on. Renter should definitely be advised the only shower is upstairs in case guest can't get up there and there is no tub.
Cozy Getaway
Reviewed on 2020-10-11 by , Johnstown, CO United StatesThis was a perfect spot for our trip and comfortably accommodates four. I worked a full-time schedule from the location and the internet held up admirably. The space has two queen beds-the master bed was very comfortable (soft)and there were plenty of blankets and pillows. There are televisions in the living room and both bedrooms. If children are in the mix, there's a small cushioned loft area up a ladder in the master bedroom. The condo is in a quiet spot, across the street from the lake and a reasonable driving distance to many amenities. It is up a hill, so keep that in mind if you're hoping to walk down to the main road--it wasn't an issue for us, but might be for young children and older adults. The space was clean and dishwashing powder, toilet paper, paper towels, bars of soap for hand washing, towels, and a hairdryer were available. There was plenty of storage for clothes and food. There's a coffee maker as well with filters provided and plenty of dishware/cooking ware. I would recommend bringing laundry soap, your own toiletries, and maybe some additional towels depending on the length of your stay. The grill is a small camping grill--we didn't need to utilize it, but that might be relevant for some. Ample parking and a large bear-proof trash container available outside. There are stairs in the location and up to the door and a single stall shower, so keep that in mind if you are a guest who needs ADA accommodations. The pool and hot tub hours were limited (Saturdays only), but I suspect that had something to do with the public health crisis. Overall we were very satisfied and would stay again!

Spring, Snow, Fun, and Sun
Reviewed on 2018-03-28 by Matthew Z. , Concord, CA United StatesLeisure Time worked out well for Our family of 4 with a 4 and 7 year old. Plenty of snow during our stay. The property backed up to open space/forest. I am quite pleased with the amount of property the Carnelian Woods HOA encompassed. The unit itself is as pictured. All appliances and features, such as TV, internet and all kitchen functions worked well. NOTE: this unit utilizes a small electric water heater. Guests will have to learn how to time their showers, kitchen and laundry duties accordingly. Laundry is a stackable unit, but worked out. The one full bath is upstairs in the closed off loft/bedroom. The showerhead placement is not standard, so please be aware for taller guests. During snow season, Leisure Time has snow encompassing 2 sides of the unit which allow kids to frolick within view from the various windows of the unit, which allowed mom and dad to enjoy a few minutes of downtime, while watching the kids from afar! The two bed options were acceptable. The upstairs queen was spongy soft, which may be intentional. The ground level queen was a tad bit more firm. Guests may consider to bring their own pillows. The online reservation process was easy, and was all finalized via email. Email response is top notch. The unit has a portable gas grill on the balcony. Guests who want to grill will want to bring their own 1 lb propane canisters. The unit is not completely remodeled or up to date, but it holds it's own for the price per night. I visited the onsite hot tubs. The restrooms in the rec center are complete with toilets, showers, and a dry sauna. Onsite staff were down to earth and friendly. I anticipate more rec center activity during the summer months. For winter time guests, the hillside behind the unit, which backs up to forest, is amazing for snow and sledding. No driving, no sno-park permits.... we had a blast walking around the forest, and constructing sledding runs! We will consider this unit when returning during the summer months.
